Starting to Eat Healthy

My husband and I just had our blood tests done and the results aren’t good 😦 — High cholesterol, high uric acid, and high sgpt and sgot. Our family doctor suggested that we start eating low fat meals from now on.

For the sake of our health and for the sake of our children, I’m challenging myself to prepare only low fat meals for me and my husband – focusing on fish, white meat, vegetables, and fruits.

To those who want to join us on this journey of healthy eating, feel free to try the recipes.

Curry Chicken with Egg Whites
What you need:
– 1/2 chicken breast, thinly sliced
– curry powder
– sea salt
– chili powder
– black pepper
– chopped garlic
– 2 egg whites
– 1/2 tbsp of light soy sauce
– 1 tsp of brown sugar
– half an onion, sliced
– few slices of red pepper, sliced
– fresh coriander

Marinate the sliced chicken breast with sea salt, curry powder, a pinch of chili powder (add more if you want it spicier), and black pepper. Set aside.

In a pan, saute the garlic in light olive oil (just a little will do). Add the chicken pieces and cook until a little done. Move it to one side of the pan. Pour in the egg whites and scramble it. Add the onions, red pepper, and coriander. Mix all together and then add the light soy sauce and brown sugar. Stir-fry for 1 minute and that’s it!

  1. Dada, baka naman galing kayo sa sakit or just drank medicines or just consumed alcohol (the sgpt and sgot). Baka naman galing din kayo sa CNY feast of peking duck and lechon (thus high in cholesterol). Or baka naman madaming spinach ang kinain (thus high in uric acid)

Test yourselves again after a month to see it abnormal..

Ang gaganda ng pictures mo!! 🙂

    Love, Didi

    • Hi didi!

Unfortunately, none of the above reasons you gave. We’ve been having our blood tests done every year or twice a year for the past years and not much have changed really. I am a hepa-b carrier while Jayson has a family history of high blood. We should have been mindful of what we eat even before, but we’re just hardheaded and matakaw. Hehe:) We’re not getting younger anymore, so we decided to switch to healthy eating for a change. Let’s see if it would do some good to us.

      Thanks!!!:)
